Butsilver.gif (1501 bytes) Butsilver.gif (1501 bytes) Ericsson launch WAP Gateway
Ericsson have announced the launch of a WAP Gateway product, targetted at corporate users.   The product can support virtually anything mobile office users want to do which requires real-time access to corporate intranet services. It creates opportunities for mobile offices by providing mobile users with access to corporate directories, calendars, news services, and e-mail.  Perhaps the significance for DECT is the fact that DECT was approved last year by the WAP Forum as a bearer mechanism; availability of such servers in corporate environments where DECT is already well established could open up significant new markets for WAP services over DECT products.
