The main goal of DECT Forum is
the promotion and evolution of DECT as the world-wide preferred cordless
telecommunications standard. This objective shall be
accomplished through:
 | Promoting and ensuring awareness of the DECT advantages and benefits to
telecommunication users, operators, manufacturers, and regulators |
| Convincing the telecommunication regulators to grant spectrum for the DECT
standard and technology |
| Acting towards European and non-European institutions to support the DECT
standard and technology internationally |
| Organising and supporting local DECT related activities on a world-wide basis |
| Managing technical standards in full collaboration with existing institutions |
| Securing DECT long term evolution (UMTS, IMT2000, etc.) |
| Promoting and demonstrating
- The competitiveness of DECT in public applications
- The interoperability between DECT networks and terminals
- The interoperability between DECT and other
telecommunication
standards (GSM, ISDN, IN, etc.)
- The capability of DECT to support data applications |
| Providing a platform to discuss and exchange experiences within the DECT
community between telecommunication operators, manufacturers, users, regulators and other
interested parties |
