With the DECT-cordless modem (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) for 3Com’s Palm V fun communications GmbH presents a novelty in cordless data transfer. (CeBIT in Hanover, 24th February to 1st March 200 exhibition hall 6, stand A48/817). Digital solutions make it possible to use the mobile Palm V in different trades like catering trade, facility management or logistics. Due to its lean design and its low weight the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) fits in any shirt bag.

Data which was first recorded with a Palm can be transferred via DECT-cordless modem to a Back Office where commercial computer systems and data bases process the data and support current business activities. Therefore it is no longer necessary to capture data two times. Palm serves as a mobile assistant in catering trade. Registered orders can be transferred immediately via radio contact to the till. The cordless modem is integrated into a snap-on-case which can be tacked on the Palm Organizer. Data transfer to the back-office-systems is effected via DECT-base station 16 cordless modems can be operated per base station with a range of about 300 meter 16, 6 of them at the same time. The speed in secure data transfer is 19,2 kBAUD.
