Siemens Cordless Phones Send Web Site Visitors to the Races in Style

Vvvroom!! Wwwhoosh!! That's the sound of action-hungry motorsports fans racing to the Siemens Cordless Web site to win great prizes. Through September, racing fans and other visitors to the site can qualify to win tickets to NASCAR Winston Cup Races by participating in Siemens' "Take the Checkered Flag'' contest.

The Internet-based promotion is an interactive joy-ride built around Siemens co-sponsorship of Bill Davis Racing's Amoco/Siemens Team 93 Pontiac driven by Dave Blaney. The online contest is part of a year-long series of promotions highlighting the sponsorship.

Siemens' online "Take the Checkered Flag'' promotion will feature a new contest with new opportunities to win each month. Entrants can qualify for the monthly prize drawing by correctly answering three questions about Siemens' cordless phones. Each monthly winner drives home with tickets, airfare and hotel accommodations for two and a rental car for the month's featured race. Additionally, the first 50 qualified entrants each month will receive a special "register early'' prize from Siemens.

"Siemens cordless phones and motorsports share similar characteristics; they both deal in high performance, use leading edge technology, and have proven broad appeal to consumers,'' said Kristine Ryan Tanzillo, Siemens Communication Devices director of marketing. ``The business of motorsports has become a multi-billion dollar industry and is the fastest growing major spectator sport in the United States in terms of paid attendance and television sponsorship,'' she continued. "Since the greatest impact on that growth has come from NASCAR racing, we believe that Siemens' sponsorship and our ''Take the Checkered Flag" promotion will really appeal to online Winston Cup fans.''

Siemens was the first phone manufacturer to offer full 2.4GHz transmission for both the telephone base and handset resulting in sound quality benefits superior to older radio frequencies. Based on the leading DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) standard, the award-winning Gigaset® family of cordless phone systems incorporates advanced technology and design principles. Targeted for small office/home offices (SOHOs) and active households, the Gigaset takes just minutes to install and requires no phone jacks for additional cordless handsets.

For more than 150 years, Siemens has been well-known in Europe and around the world for high quality and finely engineered telecommunications products. Siemens Communication Devices, a division of Siemens Information and Communication Products LLC, develops, manufactures and markets feature-rich, digital cordless products for the North American market. Siemens is the leading provider of cordless phones based on the DECT standard, having shipped more than 20 million DECT phones in more than 50 countries. Within the entire cordless market, Siemens ranks second in the world.
