New
products join Gigaset 4000 Portfolio
Siemens launches first cordless DECT phone with SMS and Walkie-Talkie features
At CeBIT 2001 in Hanover, the Siemens Gigaset 4010 and 4015
Classic and Comfort made their entry to the cordless Siemens DECT phone product
portfolio. With a broad range of consumers' needs in mind, Siemens has developed
two new stylish and ergonomically designed cordless family phones, each with the
choice of an integrated answering machine (Gigaset 4015 Classic and Comfort).
The Gigaset Classic phone comes with novel features such a menu-based user
interface and softkeys for convenient and easy use. The Gigaset Comfort is a
high-end cordless phone featuring such innovative functions as SMS text
messaging and walkie-talkie mode between two Comfort handsets up to 300 meters
apart.
The Gigaset 4010/4015 Comfort is a highly multi-functional digital cordless
phone for demanding users. With technical features similar to those of a mobile
phone, this latest addition to the Gigaset family brings a new dimension to
cordless telephony. With its SMS facility, the handset enables the user to send
text messages to other Comfort models in the fixed line network or to any mobile
phones in the GSM network**. With the text-to-speech-function it will be
possible to use value-added services like SMS to e-mail or SMS to fax.
With its five-line illuminated graphical display and navigation key, the Comfort
provides the user a very intelligent, yet simple, interface. In addition, its
walkie-talkie mode, operating independently from the base station, allows users
to communicate in a range of up to 300 meters using two Comfort handsets
anywhere - whether they are away on holiday or at home. The Comfort also comes
with an extensive phonebook capacity of up to 200 entries. In addition, the
Gigaset 4015 Comfort allows for 20 phonebook entries to be activated by voice
from up to four different users*** and the answering machine can also be
accessed by voice control.
The Gigaset 4010/4015 Classic is a digital, cordless phone for the whole family.
It comes with a range of innovative and indispensable features such as an
alphanumeric display to indicate the name and number of incoming calls. It also
has a telephone book, holding up to 20 full names and phone numbers and with up
to 15 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours in stand-by, it offers outstanding
flexibility.
Christoph Caselitz, President of Cordless Products within the Siemens
Information and Communication Mobile Group, said: "The new Siemens Gigaset
4010/4015 Classic and Comfort are four elegant cordless phones with a large
range of innovative features, many of which are a first in cordless telephony.
Following the success of the Gigaset 3000 family, we have developed products for
demanding customers that enjoy greater flexibility and mobility."
The Gigaset Classic and Comfort handsets have a LED-signal above the display to
indicate missed calls, new messages and incoming calls by different flash
cycles. In addition, pre-programmed short-cut keys offer easy access to the
menu.
The Gigaset 4010/4015 Classic and Comfort handsets can also be used with
existing Gigaset 2000 and 3000 base stations. The new range of base stations can
also support up to six additional handsets.
The new Gigaset 4010/4015 series will be available from end of June 2001.
